Everton boss Marco Silva has been speaking about the future of Andre Gomes today, with the player set to return to Barcelona at the end of the season.
The Portuguese midfielder joined the Toffees on loan from the Camp Nou side on deadline day in the summer transfer window.
It represented a pretty big coup for Everton and despite missing games early on in the season due to injury, he has now made a spot in their midfield his own.
Though, there has been much talk about what Everton will do at the end of the season.
Gomes has a release clause of €100million, a price the Toffees would never pay.
That means should they want to keep him past this season, they will have to face negotiations with Barcelona.
Now, Marco Silva has discussed the possibility of signing the player permanently.
While he remained coy, he did claim they would ‘see what we can do’.
“Let’s see what we can do,” Silva explained in a press conference today.
“First it’s really important for me to see how they are enjoying working here and playing in our shirt.
“I think it’s really important for me, not just the new players but others as well, that our environment is good and we have a good attitude to work hard every day.
“You are talking about players coming from big clubs and asking how they are enjoying working here, enjoying all the moments I think is important for us.
“It reflects what we are trying to create here, a fantastic group spirit in our dressing room.
“We’ll see what will happen in the next months. You always pay attention to the situation and we have to decide in the future what we can do or not.”
