West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that they were approached by an investor interested in buying up the Premier League football club.
Yunyi Guokai Shanghai Sports Development, which agreed to buy an 88 per cent of the club last year, has rejected the idea of a sale, chairman John Williams has confirmed.
In a statement Williams said: "My information is that there was an enquiry.
"Our majority shareholder made it clear that he wanted to retain control of the club and continue his plans for its ongoing development."
It has been reported that the offer valued the club at about £180m.
