Following on from Monday's Sky interview with Claudio Ranieri, Craig Shakespeare has refuted suggestions the pair argued during their time at the club.
Speaking to Monday Night Football - Click Here - Ranieri explained that although he wouldn't name names, that he didn't believe the players had been working against him but he felt somebody at the club had been.
'I listened to a lot of stories about this. Maybe it could be somebody behind me, but also the little problem I had the year before and we won the title. Maybe these people, this year, when we lose they push a little more. That's it. I don't want to tell. I am a serious man, a loyal man. What I have to say, I say face-to-face.'
With suggestions that this could be Shakespeare himself, he refuted that saying that his relationship with Ranieri had always been fine.
The BBC had him quoted as saying yesterday.
'We have never had any arguments or hard feelings. Free speech is there for everybody. I don't have any problem with that. I have a clear conscience.'
Confirming that he hadn't seen the interview live as he met with the media for his pre Atletico Madrid press conference, Shakespeare went on to say.
'Claudio was in good humour, he came across exactly as I know him. My stance is the same from my first interview as manager when I stated that I'd spoken to Claudio the night he was relieved, he thanked me for my time, and I thanked him. He said it was football.'
Adding.
'It was good to see him enjoying his football and he came across really well.'
