At Everton between 2014 - 2017
James Yates joined Everton’s Academy at the age of 11.
The right-back signed scholarship forms in the summer of 2014, by which point he had already amassed five caps for England youth sides.
He continued to impress for Club and country that season - helping the Under-18s come close to securing back-to-back league titles, while also aiding England Under-17s qualify for the World Cup.
On 3 July 2015, Yates signed his first professional contract, agreeing a two-year deal at Everton.
In August 2016 he joined Crewe Alexandra on a loan deal to January 2017.
James' Everton contract was not extended and he left the club at the end of June 2017.
