Idrissa Gueye - Midfielder


Born in Dakar, Idrissa Gueye spent his early career in Senegal for Diambars and in France for Lille, before signing for Aston Villa in 2015.

Gueye showed tenacity and industry and won over many hearts and minds with this committed approach.

Gueye joined Everton on 2nd August 2016 from Aston Villa.

Gueye is comfortable as a No.6 in a sitting midfield role or as a No.8 box to box.

The central star started out at Diambars before earning a move to France in 2008.

He initially featured for Lille's 'B' side before establishing himself as one of Ligue 1's star performers.

He made 134 appearances for Lille's first team and 35 for Villa, and has been capped many times for Senegal.

Gueye also represented Senegal in the 2012 Olympics and 2015 African Cup of Nations.

He signed a 4 year deal with an option of an extension, that will keep him at Everton until summer 2020.

After yet another excellent campaign in 2018-19, Idrissa was awarded Player's Player Of The Year, shared with Lucas Digne.

In October 2017 his contract was extended until 2022.

On 30th July 2019, Gueye joined Paris Saint-Germain on a 4 year deal.

On 1st September 2022, Idrissa Gana Gueye rejoined Everton from Paris Saint-Germain for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-year contract until the end of June 2024.
