Emily Ramsey - Goalkeeper

On 5th August 2022, Everton announced the signing of Goalkeeper Emily Ramsey on loan from Manchester United for the 2022-23 season.

One of England’s rising young stars, Ramsey spent the 2021-22 season with Birmingham City where she earned her first minutes in the Barclays Women’s Super League and went on to make 17 appearances.

With a desire to keep developing and help Brian Sorensen’s Blues this season, the England Under-21 international was excited to move to Merseyside.

“I’m really happy to join Everton,” said Ramsey.

“I knew it’s a big opportunity when a club like Everton were interested, so it was a no-brainer for me. I had a good loan with Birmingham – I was exposed to a lot which is good for my growth – and I knew that I wanted to progress further with a club that had bigger ambitions in the league. Everton is perfect for that. I’m here to compete, get game-time and help the Club.”

“It’s a very talented squad,” she added. "There are some very good players in this squad and I’m excited for this year to see the new manager get the best out of us.”

The new Everton number 12 was Sorensen’s third signing of the summer after the loan capture of forward Jess Park from Manchester City and Dutch international striker Katja Snoeijs.

Ramsey is looking forward to developing her game under Sorensen’s guidance.

“He has a calm and authoritative presence,” she added. “I’ve heard really good things from those who have worked with him before. I’m excited to see how he will put his tactical style and stamp on the team. I’m feeling positive and hoping it can be a really good season for us.”

Manager Sorensen explained how Ramsey is a player he had been monitoring for some time:

“I’m really happy that we are able to bring Emily to Everton,” said the Dane.

She’s a young player who has a lot of experience in the WSL already, which is a bonus for us. I was able to see her live last season and I knew she was a player that I wanted to bring in and help develop her further."

“She has a commanding presence in the area, which we saw in the game she played against us last season. She is a great shot-stopper, she communicates well. For her age, Emily has big potential. The competition is great for Courtney Brosnan as well. We have two goalkeepers who will push each other, and I will give both opportunities throughout the season.”

On Saturday 29th July 2023, Everton announced that Ramsey had joined Everton on a permanent basis, signing a three-year contract with the Club until the end of June 2026.
