On 7th September 2022, Evertron announced the signing of Norwegian Defender Elise Stenevik from Swedish club Eskilstuna United, with the Norway youth international agreeing a two-year contract until the end of June 2024.

An exciting full-back who is strong offensively as well as in defence, Stenevik says she could not turn down the chance to join the Blues.

“It’s amazing to join Everton" said Stenevik. "It’s a big step in my career and I’m really looking forward to getting started. The English league is the best in the world, which I think is really good for my development. I had other choices but the chance to join a club like Everton was too good to turn down. The quality of football, the players and staff at the Club, the level of the league – it all feels good.”

Stenevik is one of several Scandinavians to have joined Everton this summer, alongside manager Sorensen.

Eager to get started with her new teammates, the left-back hopes the cohesive group can deliver the boss' vision for success.

“We have a lot of Scandinavian girls at the Club and I’m looking forward to getting to know them as well as the other players we have,” added Stenevik.

“The style of play the manager is looking to play is very appealing: playing on the ground, high pressing, high intensity.There is also the mentality of developing and training hard - it all sounds really good. I want to help be part of that process, get to know my teammates both on and off the pitch so that we can get better as a team.”

When scouting players in Sweden, manager Sorensen revealed the young defender stood out, and he looks forward to Stenevik continuing her development on Merseyside.

“It’s great to welcome Elise to the Club,” Sorensen told evertonfc.com. “For her age, she has experience in the Swedish league, which is important, and I feel she brings something different to our squad."

“She can come in and play both full-back positions as she’s two-footed. When we were scouting across Sweden, Elise stood out. Her statistics were really impressive so we had a look at her in some games and we liked what we saw.

“She’ll fit into our team well. She can move the ball fast, is good in one-on-one duels and is a really exciting addition to our squad. We have a really good balance of experienced players in our group, and the young players we have brought in like Elise can hopefully learn from them.”

Contracted until: June 2024.
