Colombes

Nationality: French

At Everton between 2017 - 2018

Eliaquim Managala joined Everton on loan from Manchester City in January 2018.

Eliaquim enjoyed previous roles with Standard Liege, Porto, and of course Manchester City.

His debut came for Standard Liege at the age of just 17 and helped the Belgian club to a domestic league and cup double in his first season.

He then gained valuable early experience of the Champions League, scoring against Arsenal in a 2009 defeat to the Gunners.

Eliaquim moved to Porto in 2011, and in three years there he helped the club to consecutive Primeira League titles as well as continuing to develop himself thanks to exposure to the Champions League.

His performances also earned him a call-up to the France national squad, making his debut against Uruguay in May 2013. A year later he was in Brazil for the World Cup, but did not feature in his country’s five outings.

Mangala joined City in August 2014 having made a name for himself as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders.

Mangala’s debut for the Blues arrived in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea and he went on to clock up 31 appearances in his maiden campaign in Manchester.

Although much of the following season was blighted by injury, he helped Manuel Pellegrini’s side to Capital One Cup success in 2016, featuring in the fourth, quarter-final and semi-final rounds before City defeated Liverpool on penalties at Wembley.

He racked over 60 appearances during his first two seasons at City, standing out in the home win over Paris St-Germain in April 2016 that secured a semi-final spot in the Champions League.

Eliaquim spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan with Valencia.

The French centre-back, who has made 15 appearances for City in the 2017/18 campaign, will now spend the rest of the season with the Toffees.

He made his debut against Crystal Palace but was forced off at half-time with a knee injury. He later underwent surgery and was ruled out for the remainder of the season, before returning to his parent club.
