Courtney Brosnan - Goalkeeper

On 26th July 2021, Everton announced the signing of Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan on a one-year deal.

Brosnan joined the Blues after spending two seasons with West Ham United having made 16 appearances in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League for the Hammers.

The New Jersey-born goalkeeper spoke of her emotion regarding the latest move in her career: “I’m really excited to be here and take this next step for in my career. The WSL is one of the top leagues in the world and I have really enjoyed being here for the past two years and I wanted to continue to play in this league."

“Everton is a great Club with a lot of ambition to reach the top of the league so I’m looking forward to working with the team. It’s amazing to be part of a Club that is continuing to grow and striving to be better to reach new heights.”

The Ireland international spoke about the 'sales pitch' Manager Kirk and the Club made to convince her to make the move to Merseyside and outlined her goals for this season.

“Willie spoke a lot about how he wants the team to play and the goals that the team has,” she added.

“He’s really ambitious and wants to improve individual players as well as the Club as a whole. On an individual level, I just want to improve as much as I can and be the best player that I can be throughout this season. As a team, we just want to push as high as we can in the table.”

Manager Kirk reflected on another strong signing to add to his ambitious squad.

“She’s a really good acquisition for us" said Kirk.

“The idea behind signing Courtney is to have someone who is good enough to challenge Sandy but also someone who is young enough to continue to develop and I think we have managed to get both in Courtney. She’s been in England for two years now, so she knows the lie of the land and the standards of the Women’s Super League."

“She’s pushing hard to be Ireland’s number one and we’ll support her in that. Hopefully she can become Ireland’s number one as well as pushing to be Everton’s number one.”

On 3rd July 2022, Everton announced that Courtney had extended her contract for a further year.

Contracted until: June 2023
