Hull City vs EvertonJoel Robles will continue in goal for Friday’s trip to Hull City. Everton are set travel to the KCOM Stadium with the same squad that was available for the 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Boxing Day.
Maarten Stekelenburg has not yet resumed training after sustaining a dead leg in the Merseyside derby earlier this month, meaning Joel is due to make his third Premier League start of the season.
James McCarthy, meanwhile, has also been ruled out with a hamstring problem, although Koeman confirmed the Republic of Ireland international has now resumed light training.
“Stekelenburg has not yet joined training and won’t be available,” said the Blues boss on Wednesday. “I was really pleased by the performance of Joel against Leicester.
“Stekelenburg is not running yet. His dead leg is still painful and we need to wait until he is fully ready to join training. Maybe it will be in two or three days’ time, but he is not yet ready.”
Offering an update on McCarthy, Koeman added: “He is starting training out of the group, but it will take maybe 10 more days until he’s fit to come back for the team.”
Bryan Oviedo will also be missing for the trip to the Tigers, while Yannick Bolasie and Muhamed Besic continue to be sidelined with long-term knee injuries.
Hull City will be without Abel Hernandez, Moses Odubajo, Will Keane, Greg Luer and Brian Lenihan, while Allan McGregor and Alex Bruce are doubts.
FORM Everton travel to a Hull City side who find themselves bottom of the Premier League table with 12 points from their 18 games so far this term.
The most recent of those was Boxing Day’s 3-0 home defeat against Manchester City, though it took a 72nd-minute penalty from Yaya Toure to break the deadlock at the KCOM Stadium before a Kelechi Iheanacho effort and Curtis Davies’ own goal added gloss to the scoreline.
Prior to that, Hull had suffered back-to-back defeats away at Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, while their last victory came nine matches ago courtesy of a 2-1 home success against Southampton.
Everton travel the length of the M62 looking for a third win in four games and aiming to follow up Boxing Day’s 2-0 triumph at champions Leicester City.
In total, the two sides have met eight times in the Premier League, with Everton winning on four occasions, losing twice, drawing twice, scoring 16 and conceding 10.
ONE TO WATCH: Robert Snodgrass
A June 2014 signing from Norwich City, Snodgrass dislocated a knee cap on the opening day of the 2014/15 season and duly missed the remainder of the campaign as Hull were relegated from the top flight.
He bounced back to make 29 appearances in all competitions last term, helping the Tigers return to the Premier League at the first attempt via a play-off final win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Since then he has been in fine fettle in front of goal, netting seven in all competitions for his club, as well as an international hat-trick for Scotland against Malta in September. His most recent strike came against Crystal Palace on 10 December - the opener in an eventual 3-3 draw.
MAN IN THE MIDDLE: Jon Moss
Sunderland-born whistler Moss will take charge of his 17th game of the season when Everton face Hull on Friday night.
In those games, he has shown a total of 71 yellow cards (over four per game) and two reds.
It will be the second time Moss has overseen a game involving Everton in 2016/17, the last being our 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace - also on a Friday night - when he booked nine players.
The fourth official for Hull’s 3-0 home defeat against Manchester City on Boxing Day, the last game Moss refereed was Middlesbrough’s 3-0 loss at home to Liverpool on 17 December.
