Everton Under-23 manager David Unsworth and two of the Club’s rising stars, Tyias Browning and Antonee Robinson, paid a visit to the Belvidere Family Centre in Liverpool on Christmas Day. The trio were also joined by Everton deputy CEO, Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale, to give a number of families staying at the centre over the festive period some special gifts from the Club, including toys for young children. The Belvidere Family Centre operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with Christmas Day no different, providing emergency accommodation for homeless families who have been assessed as needing the service by Liverpool City Council's Housing Options Service. The Belvidere Family Centre operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with Christmas Day no different, providing emergency accommodation for homeless families who have been assessed as needing the service by Liverpool City Council's Housing Options Service. The accommodation is provided to families on a temporary basis and the average length of stay is about 10 weeks. The Belvidere staff work with the residents to help them prepare for and move on into other accommodation that is appropriate to their need. After the visit, David Unsworth spoke with evertontv and said: “Christmas Day is a special time for everyone but some people have it a lot tougher than others and that’s why we decided to come here today to hopefully put some smiles on these families faces and make the day as special as possible for them. “It’s fantastic to see two of our young players, Tyias and Antonee, here as well, to have them both come down to show their support is brilliant and we’ve all learned a bit more about the fantastic work that is done here 365 days of the year.” The centre provides families, especially those with youngsters, a safe environment for families where staff work to help address any support needs. They also provide opportunities for residents to increase their skills and independence and work towards identifying their own future requirements. As well as individual support, family members can also access a number of different activities through the centre including a homework club, craft sessions, cultural celebrations, visits and trips. Everton’s deputy CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale added: “We’ve had a long standing relationship with the Belvidere Centre. We wanted to come here today to recognise the work that is done by the fantastic staff here and help them. This has been a discreet visit with David, Tyias and Antonee.to deliver some presents to families staying at the centre over Christmas.. It has been a perfect way to wrap up an amazing and emotional Blue Crimbo which has seen us visit some heroic and inspirational people. Thank you to everyone who got involved and took part.” Toni Morgan, from the Belvidere Family Centre said: “It has been wonderful to welcome Everton Football Club into the centre this morning. We have a number of families staying with us over the festive period and the presents provided by the Club were gratefully received. The work we do here at the centre happens 24 hours a day 365 days a year and we appreciate Denise, David and the players for taking time out of their Christmas day to come and see us.”
