Everton v Liverpool - Mike Dean to referee Merseyside derbyWirral official hasn't reffed a Blues or Reds game in over a decade WIRRAL referee Mike Dean is the surprise selection to take charge of the Merseyside derby next Monday at Goodison. Dean has been picked to officiate his first Everton or Liverpool match in more than a decade. The 48-year-old was due to referee Liverpool in the 2006 FA Cup final against West Ham but was removed because he lives in the area. Dean was given Cup final duties two years later. The only Liverpool match that Dean has taken charge of was their 2003 League Cup tie with Sheffield United, which they lost 2-1. This season, Dean has taken charge of 14 games and dished out 63 yellow cards and three reds. Everton v Liverpool takes place next Monday at 8pm. Liv Echo

I didn't think he was allowed to ref our games with him living so close? As for this game, am I the only one who is absolutely dreading it?
