A group of passionate Leicester fans have been banned from using the club's cherished cardboard 'clappers' at matches. The clappers, made out of corrugated card, make a distinct noise when hit against the palm of the hand and are handed out to the crowd before every game. The club spend £12,000 per game in order to supply the 30,000-capacity King Power stadium. However, as reported by the Leicester Mercury, a section of 500 supporters were informed that they would not be allowed to use them prior to Tuesday's Champions League clash with Club Brugge. The club claimed that 'a small number of individuals' had misused the objects. The fans, who make up the stadium's L section, were told that the use of the 'clap banners' had been 'suspended for the foreseeable future'. The clappers have become synonymous with the Foxes' home games during their journey from the relegation battlers in 2014 to Premier League champions. Nonetheless there have been growing complaints that they have been used as missiles and thrown into the away and family sections of the ground.
