Would Koeman have done a job at Southampton if Martinez hadn't made us so bad? I doubt we'd have fallen away had Moyes not left. So far the Koeman style of football is bloody awful, so if he doesn't start getting results soon then the pressure will mount. Let's see if the board back him, but I can't help but think our team are overrated, and fooling nobody. I take it you mean that if Everton had stayed in the top 6 would they have got the same recognition? He did do a good job there when you consider they sold a lot of players prior to his arrival. I remember him making a joke that he had no players o train with.

Ronald Koeman intends to use his knowledge of the Southampton squad to Everton’s advantage on Sunday. The Dutchman and his backroom staff return to St Mary’s for the first time since he brought an end to his two-season spell at the club in June.During his tenure with the Saints, Koeman recruited six of the 11 players that started in their scoreless draw with Liverpool last weekend, including Fraser Forster, Charlie Austin and Ryan Bertrand “I worked two seasons with them,” Koeman said. “They have brought in new players this summer but it is not difficult to analyse Southampton because I know the players, their strengths and weaknesses. “I hope it all helps because that will make it positive to try and get a result. But everyone knows it’s about the decisions the players make inside the white lines.” Koeman made the switch to Goodison Park along with his brother Erwin, who took up the assistant manager’s role, and fitness coach Jan Kluitenburg. With the former Dutch international defender at the helm, Southampton finished seventh in 2014/15 and, last season, went one position better. “It will be special because we had two seasons at Southampton but I am now the Everton manager,” added Koeman. “We will do everything to win the game. “They need a win, we need a win and that makes it really interesting for this Sunday.”

Mori must be badly thought of if Jagielka keeps getting picked.

Everton team news: Ronald Koeman makes one change for Southampton clashJames McCarthy is also left out of the matchday squad as Gareth Barry returnsRonald Koeman has made just one change to the Everton side as he returns to Southampton for the first time since leaving for the Blues in June. Gareth Barry sat out last weekend's game with Swansea City through suspension but comes back into the starting 11 for this afternoon's game at St Mary's. James McCarthy is the player to make way although the Republic of Ireland international is not named in the matchday squad. Everton's defence lines up as it did last weekend with Maarten Stekelenburg in goal, Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines at full-back while Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams play at centre-half. Idrissa Gueye partners Barry in midfield with Yannic Bolasie, Aaron Lennon and Ross Barkley in behind Romelu Lukaku, who scored twice in a 3-0 win here last season. Koeman, meanwhile, has named the same set of substitutes as he did for their last game with Joel Robles, Gerard Deulofeu, Kevin Mirallas, Tom Cleverley, Enner Valencia, Ramiro Funes Mori and Mason Holgate on the bench. Everton: Stekelenburg, Baines, Jagielka, Williams, Coleman, Barry, Gana, Bolasie, Barkley, Lennon, Lukaku Subs: Robles, Deulofeu, Mirallas, Cleverley, Valencia, Funes Mori, Holgate Liv Echo
