Ronald Koeman was pleased to see a reaction from his players after admitting he got “angry” at half-time of Everton’s eventual 1-1 draw with Swansea City. The Blues started slowly at Goodison Park and fell behind to Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty four minutes before the break. However, there was a greater intensity about the hosts after the break and - after Koeman had sent on Kevin Mirallas and Enner Valencia for James McCarthy and Phil Jagielka - they finally found a deserved equaliser when Seamus Coleman rose to head past Lukasz Fabianski in the final minute. Koeman said: “I was not calm [at half-time] because we spoke a lot about what happened against Chelsea, we spoke about how we need to start and we spoke about the opponent, who are in a difficult situation. “From the start, we wanted to play aggressively, press and make it difficult so they would not be comfortable on the pitch. But it wasn’t like that and I was angry. “I expected a reaction from the start - not from the start of the second half. “Of course, in the second half, we did a lot of good things and played some good football. We won every second ball and had good pressing. Then we made it difficult for them.” Koeman has previously bemoaned slow starts this term and pointed to the passion of the second half as being the required standard going forward. He added: “It [starting slowly] is a concern. We know if we play at home and we perform like we did in the second half then we will always have the support of the fans. “We need to make things difficult, press and run - and go for it. I think that is where we need to improve. “Maybe today we were lacking a little bit of confidence after what happened against Chelsea. Maybe there were doubts. But if you have doubts on the pitch then you’re not yourself and you can’t give your best to the team.” Everton FC

At half time the fans were quite angry too.
Maybe if they don't pull their socks up, he should make them stand on the touch line so the fans can tell them what they think of their performances of late.

Last season is happening again It's like Koeman is deflecting all blame on the players, but he has a lot to answer for too. For example, why is Jagielka keeping his place, and why does Baines walk straight back in? Why is Stekelenburg keeping his place? Why is he trying to play the same way every week, and why doesn't he listen to the fans and play a few under 21 lads?
