Chelsea win an incredible FA Cup semi-final v Spurs The top two faced off in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday and it was truly one of the best games of the season. Once again, Chelsea beat Spurs in a major game at Wembley but it was far from a sure thing as Mauricio Pochettino’s side refused to lie down. Willian gave Chelsea the lead with a free-kick. Harry Kane replied with a well placed header.
Spurs dominate – sucker punched by Hazard Willian again scored for Chelsea from the penalty spot before half-time. Only for Dele Alli to equalise just after the break from a fantastic Christian Eriksen pass. After Dele Alli’s 52nd minute goal for Spurs, the north London side dominated to a massive degree. Chelsea could barely get out their half and were under the cosh for a good 15 minutes before Antonio Conte pulled off another masterstroke on the hour.
Antonio Conte pulls off a masterstroke Eyebrows were raised when Antonio Conte left out two of his most key attacking players for a huge FA Cup semi-final. Eden Hazard and Diego Costa were both benched from the start and introduced on 61.
They didn’t immediately make a difference but Eden Hazard scored the goal that effectively won the game on 75 with a fine strike from a corner that wasn’t cleared properly.
Eden Hazard slays Tottenham again Nemanja Matic finished off the game with a simply stunning strike and it confirmed such a genius move by Antonio Conte. Once again, Eden Hazard downed Spurs, as he did last season to end their title hopes and win the Premier League for Leicester. Whilst Chelsea now have rested players to go into what is still a crucial game against Southampton in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
