Aiden McGeady returns from injuryAiden McGeady made his comeback from injury in Preston North End’s 3-1 away victory at Rotherham United. The winger had missed a month of football with a hamstring problem but returned to the starting line-up at the New York Stadium. McGeady got through 89 minutes and played a part in Preston’s second goal, providing the assist for Callum Robinson. Also in the Championship, Luke Garbutt was an unused substitute in Wigan Athletic’s 3-0 home defeat to Reading, while Conor Grant was not involved in Ipswich Town squad that won 2-1 at Sheffield Wednesday. In the FA Cup, Russell Griffiths guarded the goal for Cheltenham Town who earned a first-round replay by playing out a 1-1 draw with Crewe Alexandra. Brendan Galloway was named on the bench but not called upon as West Bromwich Albion earned an important 2-1 away Premier League victory at Leicester City on Sunday. Meanwhile, over in Germany, Shani Tarashaj missed Eintracht Frankfurt’s 1-0 victory over FC Koln.
