TEAM NEWSRonald Koeman will offer a team news update at his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon.
Leighton Baines has missed the last four matches for the Toffees with a hamstring problem, while Aaron Lennon was also ruled out of last weekend’s trip to Manchester City. Muhamed Besic remains on the sidelines with a long-term cruciate knee ligament injury.
For Burnley, Steven Defour is doubtful because of a hamstring complaint. The Belgium suffered the injury in last Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at St Mary’s.
Ashley Barnes is also expected to be absent. The forward hasn’t played this term after suffering an injury in pre-season.
LAST TIME WE METEVERTON 1-0 BURNLEY - 18 APRIL 2015
Kevin Mirallas was the match-winner when the Toffees hosted the Clarets at Goodison Park two seasons ago.
The Belgian netted midway through the first half after Ross Barkley had seen an early penalty saved by keeper Tom Heaton.
Ashley Barnes was sent off for the visitors, who slipped to another damaging defeat in their unsuccessful quest to avoid relegation.
In the meeting at Turf Moor earlier that season, Everton also emerged triumphant thanks to a brace from Samuel Eto’o and Romelu Lukaku’s right-footed effort.
ONE TO WATCHSAM VOKES
An interesting duel to watch on Saturday afternoon will be between Wales international colleagues Sam Vokes and Ashley Williams.
The 26-year-old forward scored 16 times last season as the Clarets crusaded to the Championship title, after he missed most of the previous term (2014/15) due to a cruciate knee ligament injury.
Vokes has been a regular fixture in Burnley’s team this season and has netted twice from his eight Premier League appearances, against Liverpool in August and at Southampton last weekend.
MAN IN THE MIDDLEMIKE JONES
The Chester-based official will be taking charge of his second Everton match of the season - he oversaw the Blues’ 3-0 victory at Sunderland last month.
In all competitions, Jones has officiated in six matches so far in 2016/17, with his most recent outing being Stoke’s 2-0 win over Sunderland last weekend.
In those matches, he has flashed 22 yellow cards and two reds.
