Yeovil Town 1-0 EvertonBlue Girls suffer narrow defeat in promotion clash at Huish Park.FA WSL 2 match 14:00, Sunday 25 September 2016 Yeovil Town FC Yeovil Town Ladies FC Goal Scorers: Aldridge Everton lost ground in the race for promotion from the FA Women’s Super League 2 as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Yeovil Town. Kelly Aldridge’s 23rd-minute strike was enough to see off the valiant Blue Girls, who are now five points off the top two with three games left. Both sides made promising starts with the better chances falling to Everton as Rosella Ayane tested the reflexes of Lady Glovers’ keeper Charlotte Haynes. However, Yeovil Town took the lead midway through the first-half. Aldridge cut in from the right-hand side onto her left foot, and curled a shot past Kirstie Levell to put the home side in front. The Blue Girls threatened an equaliser and came close from Chloe Kelly's long-range shot which went narrowly over the crossbar. Emily Hollinshead also had a good chance but blasted wide on the stroke of half-time. Kelly was again close to levelling the scores in the second but was denied by a last-ditch block by Hannah Short. Everton were unable to find a way through Yeovil's defence and the home side almost doubled their advantage late on but Lucy Quinn blasted over. Next up for the Blue Girls is a trip to fourth-placed Durham Women as they look to get their promotion charge back on track.
