Christian Atsu has been called up by Ghana ahead of the 2015 African Cup of Nations. Manager Avram Grant has named the on-loan winger in his travelling party for a pre-tournament training camp before confirming his final squad for the 2015 tournament. Atsu was named among the substitutes against Hull City on New Year’s Day after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained against FC Krasnodar on December 11. This year’s African Cup of Nations, which is set to take place in Equatorial Guinea, will be held between January 17 and February 8.

We should buy Atsu if we can get him cheap. Lots of fans on his back but he is only 22 and won't improve if we don't play him.

Ghana cant be in a good position if they need him. He hasn't got very good control of the ball although his speed is very impressive

Roberto Martinez says a regular run of games for Ghana at the African Cup of Nations could benefit loanee winger Christian Atsu. The 22-year-old has managed just nine appearances since joining the Blues from Chelsea in September and has now linked up with his nation ahead of the three-week tournament that kicks off on 17 January. The Black Stars face Senegal, Algeria and South Africa in Group C and Martinez said: "It always takes time to adapt to the needs of the British game and it takes time to settle in. "Christian has been doing very well in training and he is ready now to have a big impact on the side, that's the way I feel. "It is disappointing that he has to go away now but, if he can play some games and get some minutes under his belt we can pick that up when he gets back."
