Women's Super League and Premier League matches to honour footballer

A minute’s applause will be held at every Women’s Super League and Premier League match this weekend in memory of tragic Zoe Tynan .

Zoe, 18, from Mossley Hill, died after being hit by a train at West Allerton station on Tuesday.

The FA said on Twitter: “Every FAWSL [Women’s Super League] and FA Women’s Premier League club will hold a minute’s applause at their next scheduled match in memory of Zoe Tynan.”

Tributes poured in for the England U19 international who recently signed for Fylde Ladies AFC, and previously played for Everton Ladies U17s and Manchester City Women.

The FA paid tribute to Zoe on Wednesday, and the chief executive officer Martin Glenn said: “On behalf of The FA, I would like to send our heartfelt condolences to Zoe’s family. Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult and tragic time.”

Zoe’s team Fylde Ladies are scheduled to play a cup match at Huddersfield on September 4.

The team’s next Premier League game will be at their home ground, Mill Farm, on September 11 against Bradford City.

Zoe was also part of England youth squads at U15s, U17s and most recently at U19s level, where she was in manager Mo Marley’s squad for a training camp at St George’s Park earlier this month.

The world of football paid tribute to the midfielder as the news of her death broke.

Mo said: “This is truly awful news and we were all so sad to hear of Zoe’s passing.

“Zoe has been involved in our squads for a number of years and was not only a very talented midfielder, but a hugely-liked and popular member of the team.

“I know that she will be much missed by her team-mates and staff members alike and I would like to send our deepest condolences to Zoe’s family from everyone involved at England.”
