Dowell The Match-Winner For EnglandForward nets goal which books Under-20s' place in World Cup knockout round.Kieran Dowell was the match-winner as England Under-20s moved into the knockout stage of the World Cup with a 1-0 win over hosts South Korea on Friday. The winger scored a brilliantly-worked goal on 55 minutes, back-heeling the ball to Blues teammate Jonjoe Kenny before steering the full-back’s return pass into the bottom corner of the net. Also starting at the Suwon Stadium was fellow Evertonians Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ademola Lookman, while defender Callum Connolly was a substitute. The win means England advance as winners of Group A, with seven points to their name. The Young Lions beat Argentina 3-0 in their tournament opener and then drew 1-1 with Guinea on Tuesday. They will play the nation that finishes third in either Group C, D or E in the round of 16 next Wednesday.

Seamus To Join Up With Ireland SquadRepublic of Ireland skipper Seamus Coleman is to give his national team ‘a massive lift’ by meeting up with the squad ahead of their World Cup qualifier at home to Austria on 11 June. The Blues defender is currently in rehabilitation after suffering a double leg break against Wales in Dublin in March. But after returning to USM Finch Farm last month to begin his fitness recovery – and vowing to return ‘stronger than ever’ – the 28-year-old has confirmed to evertonfc.com that he will pay a visit to the Ireland squad ahead of their Group D clash against Austria at the Aviva Stadium. The gesture has been praised by Ireland manager Martin O’Neill, who told of Coleman’s pride at playing for his national team and Everton. “He is really up for (joining up with the squad) and he is going to come over and join us for a few days before the Austria game, which would be a massive lift for the players,” said O’Neill. “He is a top-class captain. You talk to him around the hotel for a couple of days, he’s self-effacing. Then he goes into the dressing room and he’s a different character completely. “Seamus has obviously got great pride wearing the shirt for Ireland. When he is over in Ireland I think he has total concentration on that and when he goes back there (Everton), it’s club football.” Coleman, who penned a new five-year Everton contract on 5 May, will hope to inspire an Ireland side who sit second in World Cup Qualifying Group D, level on 11 points with group leaders Serbia, and four ahead of Ashley Williams’ Wales.
