Everton turn down Newcastle approach for young defender Brendan Galloway is expected to seal a season-long loan move to West Brom today. The 20-year-old is understood to be travelling to the West Midlands today ahead of completing the deal. Galloway had looked set to move to Newcastle United but Everton decided to accept an offer from the Baggies. It is understood that the Championship side were hoping to agree a loan move with a view to making it a permanent transfer. But West Brom will just take Galloway on loan from the remainder of the season. Baggies’ boss Tony Pulis was forced to deploy Jonny Evans at left-back against Everton on Saturday and so Galloway could find himself straight in the team for tomorrow night’s EFL Cup tie at Northampton. Blues boss Ronald Koeman is allowing Galloway to leave on a short-term deal having bolstered his central defensive options with Ashley Williams. Everton also remain hopeful of signing Lamine Kone from Sunderland. Leighton Baines is Everton’s first-choice left-back with Koeman believing Bryan Oviedo provides adequate back-up. Luke Garbutt, another left-back, has been allowed to join Wigan Athletic on loan until January. By Phil Kirkbride / Echo

Glad to see him playing in the Premiership rather than the Championship as it'll be a much tougher test. I'll be looking out to see how he plays.

Everton left-back Brendan Galloway has joined West Brom on a season-long loan deal.He becomes Tony Pulis' second summer signing following the recruitment of QPR winger Matt Phillips for £5.5m last month. The agreement which sees Galloway switch to The Hawthorns does not include a recall clause, meaning the England youth international will remain there until next summer. He told West Brom's official website: "I'm delighted. It's a great club and I'm really looking forward to getting started. "My aims are to play and work hard for the team and help win as many matches as I can. It's all about winning. "I think for me personally, it's really important to gain more experience. Coming here is the perfect opportunity to do that. I can't wait to get started and put the shirt on." Galloway was an unused substitute for Everton's first Premier League game of the campaign, the 1-1 home draw with Tottenham on August 13. He was then left out of the squad for Saturday's match against his new club, a fixture Ronald Koeman's side won 2-1 as Gareth Barry scored the winner. Galloway joined Everton from MK Dons on a five-year deal in 2014 after making his debut for his first club at the age of 15 in an FA Cup tie against Nantwich Town He made 19 appearances for the Goodison Park side last season, 16 of them as a starter, and was booked three times. The term, however, he will spend the campaign in the Midlands, with Pulis now keen on adding up to another four players to his group. By Andrew Dickson / Sky Sports

Oviedo is the number 2 Left Back then. Oviedo can't get anywhere near the team, yet was given a 3 year extension just to be available. Wouldn't it be better to have a Left Back that isn't back up, but a genuine contender for the position? Galloway is a great player in my opinion.
