The new-look, relaunched Everton magazine hit shelves on Friday, packed with brilliant features, exclusive interviews, top-class photography and a unique, behind-the-scenes insight into the Football Club. The August issue marks the start of the 2016/17 season and the dawn of a new era under manager Ronald Koeman. The Everton magazine is also entering a brave new era, delivering the best reading and the sharpest imagery on the Blues. New signing Yannick Bolasie is this month’s cover story, his exclusive interview revealing his incredible journey from non-league football to the forefront of the Premier League with interesting perspectives on his international career with the Congo as well as his passion for grime music and MCing. Fellow summer arrivals Ashley Williams and Idrissa Gana Gueye also tell their stories, with the Wales captain revealing why he was “a rubbish waiter” in the Beefeater restaurant in which he once worked and Gana acknowledging that the dream of every young African boy is to play in the Premier League. New Director of Football Steve Walsh explains in a must-read interview what goes into spotting the next big talent, while Michael Ball, Francis Jeffers and Keith Southern sat round the table for what proved to be an illuminating - and humorous - reflection on life at Everton's Academy in the late 1990s. In a rare and candid interview, another Blue from that time, Michael Branch, reveals all about his life after Everton, including a harrowing time in prison, and our new columnist – and budding photojournalist - is unveiled as none other than left–back Leighton Baines whose photographs will be an ongoing, exclusive feature of Everton magazine. Legendary journalist Brian Glanville tell us his best anecdotes from more than half a century covering the Toffees, there's behind-the-scenes photography from Getty’s finest covering the pre-season trip to Germany and our annual 'Green Screen' day and we also catch up with the Under-23s, Under-18s and Ladies. And, of course, Ronald Koeman himself reflects on his first few months as manager at Goodison Park. "We've worked very hard to produce a magazine that's vibrant, exciting and modern, while holding on to the values that Evertonians hold dear," said Everton's Broadcast and Publications Manager, Darren Griffiths. "The interviewees in the magazine are terrific and we are confident that the magazine will be well received by our supporters." It looks a decent read. I might start buying the magazine as I walk past it in the shop all the time.
