David Henen is aiming to make it back-to-back wins when Everton Under-23s host Reading in the Premier League International Cup on Thursday evening.Belgium Under-19 international Henen and defender Matty Foulds were on the scoresheet as David Unsworth’s side began their competitive campaign with an impressive 2-0 away victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League 2. Speaking to evertonfc.com ahead of the clash with the Royals at the Merseyrail Community Stadium in Southport, Henen admitted he was delighted to open his account for the season so early on. “It’s always difficult to go away at Tottenham, so to win 2-0 there is a great start,” he said. “I was also very pleased to score. I was on the half way line and I saw the ball go long I then took a touch and went past my man. “I looked to cross to Courtney [Duffus] but he was marked by two defenders - so I looked up at the goal and saw a huge space in the top corner. I then let fly with my left foot and, thankfully, it flew into the net.” We had a great pre-season, but what a way to start the real one. 2-0 vs Spurs. Let us keep up the good work! It’s a short turnaround for the young Blues, who will be playing their second game in four days when Reading head to Merseyside - but Henen insists he and the rest of the squad welcome the busy schedule. He added: “I’m very happy to start the season like this. We now have to repeat our first performance against Reading on Thursday. We have a tough few weeks coming up, as we are playing on Monday too. “I just want to keep performing well and get to the first team. I want to show people my ability and what I can do. I really enjoy it here, every day I’m happy to be at the Club and be an Everton player.” Kick-off at Southport is 7pm. Entry to the game is free for Season Ticket holders and Foreverton members or otherwise £5 for adults and £3 for concessions on the turnstile.Everton

Haven't seen him play . Will he get a chance this season? He's only 20 so I doubt it but he needs to be ready to step up next season when he'll be 21 and will have to prove himself one way or another.

When he came here there was a lot of expectation but I've not heard an awful lot about him since.
