Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov DENIES reports he is set to sell stake in Gunners and invest in EvertonThe Uzbek-born Russian billionaire has refuted claims he was set to cash out his 30% stake and reunite with Farhad Moshiri at Goodison Park Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov has moved to deny reports that he is to sell his stake in the club. A story published on well-respected Gunners site Arseblog on Wednesday claimed that the Uzbek-born Russian billionaire was preparing to cash out on his investment in the north London club in order to reunite with former Arsenal shareholder Farhad Moshiri at Everton. But a spokesman for Usmanov, who is valued at some US$13.8billion by Forbes, denied any intention to cash out. "Contrary to some speculative media reports, Red and White Holdings would like to state that Mr. Alisher Usmanov does not intend to sell his stake in Arsenal Holdings Plc ("Arsenal")," it read. "Mr. Usmanov continues to be committed to Arsenal and considers his stake in the Club as a long-term investment for his family and future generations. "Red and White Holdings Limited owns 30.04% of Arsenal Holdings Plc." Usmanov has long been the silent partner at the Emirates Stadium, with majority shareholder Stan Kroenke owning 67.05% of the club. The two share an uneasy relationship, but with the 62-year-old mining magnate unwilling to rock the boat, Kroenke has largely continued to steer the club in peace. Moshiri's departure, which funded his investment at Everton earlier this year , allowed Usmanov to take control of Red and White Holdings' full stake. But Usmanov's people have moved quickly and decisively to deny any interest in selling that 30%. Mirror

Uzbek-born Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov has made a £1bn bid to wrest control of Arsenal from majority shareholder Stan Kroenke. But with Kroenke showing no interest, the bid has in effect been rejected, though Usmanov is yet to receive written confirmation of that. The Financial Times reported Usmanov made the offer last month, and that Kroenke has yet to formally respond. Metal magnate Usmanov owns 30% of Arsenal's shares. He is, though, not part of the board or decision-making at the club. He said in April that Kroenke must "bear huge responsibility" for the club's failures on the pitch.
