Duo Set For Full Debuts
Ronald Koeman has suggested that Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Williams and Yannick Bolasie are all set to start for Everton against Yeovil Town on Tuesday. Lukaku made his comeback from a heel injury off the bench on Saturday at West Bromwich Albion. New signings Williams and Bolasie also appeared as substitutes at the Hawthorns and the pair are now set for their full Everton debuts in the EFL Cup second-round tie at Goodison Park, alongside the Belgian international striker. Tickets are still available for the Goodison cup tie, which is the first ever competitive meeting between the two clubs. “For them, it’s really important to have game time,” Koeman said. “In the case of Ashley, he did not play a friendly [in pre-season]. It will be a very good occasion for him to start playing and to get in that rhythm of the games. Bolasie also is a new player and he will start tomorrow. “It’s the same situation for Romelu because he has not played a lot before. Of course, he played the friendly against Espanyol but after that he was 10 days out of training. He needs game time to get in his best shape.” Despite intimating that the aforementioned trio will start against Yeovil, Koeman explained that he will not be making wholesale changes to the team he named against West Bromwich Albion. “You see a lot of the time, there are a lot of changes in most of the teams. On one side I can understand it because it gives opportunities to players who are not normally involved. “Of course, if you play in Europe it means there is a very tough programme which you have. In our situation, we don’t play in Europe. I’m a new manager in a new club, and we are trying to change things and do things in a different way than they used to be. “Some players will get a rest but I won’t change eight or nine positions because I don’t believe that’s the best way to win something.” Everton

Romelu Lukaku looks set to start against Yeovil Town in the EFL Cup at Goodison. And Everton boss Ronald Koeman has also confirmed that new signings Ashley Williams and Yannick Bolasie will be handed full debuts in the second round tie. Lukaku missed the opening game of the season against Spurs because of a heel injury but came off the bench to help Everton defeat West Brom on Saturday. Williams and Bolasie were also introduced from the bench at the Hawthorns but Koeman says they need to step up their fitness and so will start against the League Two side. “For them, it’s really important to have game time,” Koeman said. “In the case of Ashley, he did not play a friendly [in pre-season]. It will be a very good occasion for him to start playing and to get in that rhythm of the games. Of course, he played the friendly against Espanyol but after that he was 10 days out of training. He needs game time to get in his best shape.” Koeman insists that with Everton only fighting on domestic fronts this season he will not be making wholesale changes. “You see a lot of the time, there are a lot of changes in most of the teams,” he said. “On one side I can understand it because it gives opportunities to players who are not normally involved. “Of course, if you play in Europe it means there is a very tough programme which you have.
