Watford captain Troy Deeney signs new five-year contract• Striker was subject of £25m offer from Leicester last month • ‘This club really means business and I want to be part of this’ Watford have confirmed that their captain Troy Deeney has signed a new five-year contract. The 28-year-old, who scored 13 Premier League goals last season as Watford comfortably survived in their first season after promotion, was the subject of a £25m bid from Leicester City last month. “Conversations have continued between Watford FC and Troy Deeney throughout the summer,” read a statement on the club’s website. “The result of these conversations is that Troy Deeney has signed a new five-year contract at Vicarage Road.” Deeney added: “This club really means business and I want to be part of this. I’ve listened carefully to everything the club has had to say to me recently. “We’ve talked things through in a sensible way – and it’s helped me fully deal with lots of my own thoughts. “When you’re right in the middle of something, maybe you take it for granted how quickly things are moving forward. I don’t think I’ve done that; but by talking it over it’s clear that Watford isn’t ever going to settle for second best – and that’s how I want to feel about my career so it works for me.” Earlier on Friday, Watford completed a deal for the Belgian defender Christian Kabasele and are also expected to confirm the purchase of the Nigerian striker Isaac Success for a club record fee of £12.5m. Decent player, and if they keep Ighalo too then they've got strength up front.
It's good to see players respecting their clubs and signing new deals amidst speculation.

I can't get my head around them sacking their manager. He did well last season.

He used to live near me. His family still does. Supposed to have been a right little toe-rag when younger
