Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has offered Liverpool misfit Mario Balotelli an escape route from Anfield. The Italian striker international endured a frustrating loan spell back with former club AC Milan last season, and returned to pre-season training with the Reds at the weekend as the Rossoneri opted against making his stay permanent. Balotelli's agent Mino Raiola has been trying to find a suitable destination for his client, who is thought to be surplus to requirements under Jurgen Klopp. The 25-year-old has been linked with moves to China and Turkey, but a return to his homeland could be the most likely option. And Ferrero insists he would be happy to give the out-of-form striker the platform to relaunch his career with Serie A side Sampdoria. "Balotelli is Balotelli's own worst enemy," Ferrero told Il Corriere dello Sport. "Just like [controversial Sampdoria striker Antonio] Cassano is Cassano's own worst enemy. "He's a great player who's stuck back in the 1960s, stuck in the days of 'Sapore di sale' .
"He could relaunch [his career] at a passionate club like ours, but I think he's still got mixed feelings.
"I've tried to tell him to come to Samp because he's a great talent."

Mike van der Hoorn has completed his move to Swansea City from Ajax, the Premier League club have confirmed. The 23-year-old defender joins for an undisclosed fee after agreeing terms on a three-year contract. Van der Hoorn is the second Dutch arrival at the Liberty Stadium in as many days after Leroy Fer made his move from Queens Park Rangers permanent following a loan spell at the end of last season.

I thought he'd left. Is he still with them?
