Everton have turned down a request by Celtic to loan their highly-rated teenage midfielder Anthony Gordon for the rest of the season.
The 18-year-old, who made his Premier League debut in the draw with West Ham earlier this month, has also been attracting attention from clubs in Bundesliga.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has had a long-standing interest in Gordon, and has had scouts at several of Everton’s U-23 games last year to monitor him

Lewis Gibson is expected to seal a loan move to Fleetwood Town on deadline day. Lewis Gibson has committed to a new 2½-year contract at Everton and made a loan move to Fleetwood Town for the remainder of the season. The Blues were in danger of losing the promising young defender, originally signed from Newcastle United, in the summer when his contract ran out but they have now tied him down on new terms that would expire in 2022. The 19-year-old played for the first-team during pre-season last July but has endured an injury-hit campaign for the Under-23s and he is hoping to get some games under his belt at Fleetwood before returning to Finch Farm to push for a berth in the senior side or going on a further loan next season.

According to Area Napoli, Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is considering a move to bring Napoli winger Hirving Lozano to Goodison Park.
It's claimed that Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis wouldn't be opposed to selling Lozano, and boss Gennaro Gattuso is open to a move too because Matteo Politano has arrived from Inter Milan.
Lozano is thought to be keen on reuniting with Ancelotti, the manager who brought him to Napoli in the summer of 2019, and Everton would allegedly be willing to pay around £35million to sign him.
