EVERTON have lined up Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic as a replacement for veteran Phil Jagielka, according to reports I'll believe this one when I see it. James McCarthy will be delighted.

I can't think of a single No.10 who would be available and consider Everton as a destination. What about Sigurdsson from Swansea?

I think that would be a big mistake for us, as in another season or two our defenders would be drawing a pension. Paper talk again. I think we have bigger fish in mind (hopefully) Hopefully. The old Everton would have been a good home for him, but we should be looking to buy players who are about to hit their prime now, and can have the best of their career at Everton. The only exception I'd make to that would be maybe Rooney, who I think would give strong experience, and add profile.

Everton could challenge Aston Villa for the signature of Wolfsburg winger Anton Donkor, with German football website SportBuzzer claiming that the Toffees have tracked the 19-year-old since his impressive showings in the UEFA Champions League youth competition.
