Ramiro Funes Mori’s Argentina reached the semi finals of the Copa America after thumping Venezuela on Saturday. The Everton centre back played throughout as La Albiceleste started in authoritative fashion, Gonzalo Higuain netting after just nine minutes following a sublime pass from Lionel Messi. The Napoli striker doubled his tally on 28 minutes after he capitalised on a mix-up in the Venezuelan defence, before Messi poked home on the hour to match Gabriel Batistuta’s record of 54 goals for his country. West Brom’s Solomon Rondon did pull one back on 70 minutes but inside 60 seconds, Argentina’s three-goal cushion was restored via Erik Lamela. Funes Mori will now face a familiar face in Tim Howard in the semi finals after the USA defeated Ecuador on Friday.

Hopefully he'll win it and then we cn sell him for 40 million and get a proper defender in. I'm not convinced he's that good.

No Barça interest in Funes Mori
Ramiro Funes Mori is unlikely to be a transfer target for Barcelona in the current transfer window despite reports linking him with a move to the Nou Camp. The Catalan giants' sporting director Robert Fernandez admits that they have been aware of the Everton defender for a while but have no plans to approach the Blues about his availability.
"He's a good player and we've known him well for a long time, but we're not going to sign him this summer," Fernandez said after taking in Argentina's 4-1 win over Venezuela in the Copa America yesterday.
Fernandez's presence at Gillette Stadium had sparked speculation he might be scouting the 25-year-old but, according to ESPN, he was there to watch Lionel Messi and to have talks with Javier Mascherano over his Barça future.
