Are you trolling by any chance Si?
I'm starting to come to terms with Moyes' departure and the arrival of Martinez, who I have to say I was very sceptical about. I figured any manager who had been struggling at the foot of the table for season after season before being relegated wasn't good enough to replace our 'magnificent' Moyes and that we should have been looking at a different option.
The problem with Moyes was that he wasn't lucky.
He worked for every inch and deserved a lot more than he got, although you could say that getting the biggest job in English football is quite a reward.
Still, United fans are sceptical and like us, struggling to come to terms with being taken from their comfort zone, which seems to be nothing more than human nature and natural reaction.
Is Martinez a lucky manager?
Yes, I think he is.
He falls into the Championship abyss with Wigan only to be rescued by the timing of Everton's managerial crisis. He wins the FA cup against all the odds beating teams that normally would have been too strong. He is blessed with a likeable personality that distracts peoples attention from looking for negatives. He lands one of the most exciting striking prospects on loan who just happens to be in good form. He brings in the hottest young prospect in Spain on loan, not to mention one of the best English midfielders in Gareth Barry, again on loan.
Is it really just luck though, or is it down to him aiming high, and then getting a little lucky?
We play Chelsea and win, thanks to an invisible force field around our goal that could have been placed by only God himself which gives us a little platform of self belief.
We play some inconsistent football yet only City beat us, thanks in general to dodgy refereeing decisions.
I'm starting to see the team spirit returning now though and with it our performances recently have been much better as a whole, and also we've kept it up for 90 minutes.
Defensively we are still a bit vulnerable, but it's only been a dozen games, and with a brand new midfield, it is going to take time to get it better.
Remember we still have a squad that is built up from bargains and academy finds. We are not City, with a squad of expensive mercenaries and proven managers.
Bringing in loan signings is all part of a managers job, so as lucky as we are to have the 3 players join, you still have to go out and convince a club to lend you them. You still have to have the forethought to identify the opportunity.
We started the season looking at a probable mid table finish, and I'd be lying if I said I've not now got one eye on a top 4 finish, so rather than pick fault, let's give the guy time to iron out the faults, and just enjoy the ride this season.
Next season is where the biggest challenge will come, when we could well be without Lukaku, Deufoleu, Barry, and even Baines, so how Martinez deals with this will be interesting.
I shake my head sometimes at all the fancy overly positive words he uses, like he's just stepped out of some positive thinking course, but if it works on the team then maybe the way forward in life 'is' to be cheesy and luvy if you want success, and the literal thinkers amongst us that wonder why others can't see what we see may have to just grin and bear it.
So far things are going our way. A difficult week lies ahead though.
