Everton recorded their first win of 2015 with a narrow 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
A second-minute strike from Romelu Lukaku gave the Blues a dream start and it proved to be enough to take all three points for Roberto Martinez’s side.
Defender John Stones found Steven Naismith with a brilliant pass and the Scot drilled a low cross into the penalty area.
Julian Speroni in the Palace goal could only parry the ball into the path of Lukaku and the Belgian forward bundled home from two yards to give the Toffees the victory in South London.
Key Man: Yohan Cabaye
Yohan Cabaye linked up with Alan Pardew once again when he signed for Crystal Palace in July 2015 following a successful stint together at Newcastle United.
The midfielder became the club’s record signing when he made the switch from Paris St Germain and has since become a key member of the Palace side.
A French international, Cabaye began his career in his hometown of Lille where he helped his local side become a force in French football.
A part of the Lille side that won Ligue 1 in 2010/11, Cabaye later departed for Newcastle and after three years at St James Park, he joined PSG for a reported £20million.
After just once season, the 29-year-old decided toreturn to England and has impressed in South London since the move, scoring four goals in 14 appearances.
