Same team for BournemouthRoberto Martinez will wait until the last possible moment before deciding whether this Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth is the right time for Leighton Baines is ready to make his first-team return at Bournemouth. Ahead of Saturday’s trip to the south coast, the Blues boss has confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns and he has a similar squad available to select from as he did against Aston Villa, with the possibility of Baines also coming into contention. Martinez did, however, reiterate once again at his pre-match press conference that he will not rush the England left-back into action. Baines was not risked against Aston Villa last weekend as Martinez instead deemed it would be more beneficial for the 30-year-old to step up his recovery by playing 45 minutes for the Under-21s the following day. “We are going to have exactly the same squad that we did against Aston Villa, plus the considerations of Leighton Baines and Mo Besic,” Martinez said. “Physically, Leighton is ready but it is about giving him the right introduction. More than anything it’s about getting his confidence back of going into a 50-50 challenge without feeling fearful. “When you get an injury in the manner he got his, just blocking a simple ball, we need to be careful to get his confidence back and prepare his body to be really strong. “We’ll take it day by day but it has been good to see him in training. The energy that he brings is very impressive. “We’ll assess it and make a decision tomorrow [Friday] whether he will be in the squad or not.” As well as Muhamed Besic, another who played for the development squad against FC Porto last Sunday, Martinez also confirmed that Tom Cleverley is available for selection this weekend. Three senior players, however, are not yet considered fit enough to make their first-team comebacks. Martinez added: “It’s really important for us to have players like Mo Besic and Tom Cleverley desperate to be on the pitch again and pushing for their places. “Steven Pienaar, Bryan Oviedo and Tony Hibbert have been training but at a slower pace. They are all back recovering well but they are not ready for the weekend.”

I read that Bainsey could be fit for this one. Does anybody think he'll start?

I read that Bainsey could be fit for this one. Does anybody think he'll start? I'd expect Martinez to bring him back in small steps so he doesn't get injured again so maybe a cameo in the last 20 minutes.

Thanks for the reminder, it must be 35 years since he last scored against Bournemouth Jimmy. Give him a few packets of crisps and you sit back and watch him. I wished he could have stayed longer with us.
My dog will play for a few packets of crisps too.
