UPDATE We are still waiting for the bleedin solicitors to pull there chuffin finger out so should be kickin off late nxt week will post some photos once i've got the digger in. Are you going timber framed or traditional build? Ground source heat pump with under floor heating or radiators off gas/oil? Timber frame, Air source heat pump & solar with underfloor heating runnin of heat store with a wood burner & back boiler. All leckie don't trust the gas situation in britain frackin don't seem to be the answer.

That's the way judda, make sure that the wood burner does most of the work for you! Have you thought about situating the wood burner on an internal wall in the lounge with the flu going up into first floor (encased with fire protection in joist and truss level, and attic) out through the roof? Shame to waste all that heat going up an inclosed external chimney. Maybe think of having the return from the upstairs rads circulate the liner ( like a cork screw) back down before going to your main heating source?

Not sure if we are gonna have rads upstairs the roof will have 190mm insulation ( including 50mm warm roof ) so I am reckoning on the heat from ground floor heating will drift up and trap in loft/first floor I do like the sound of the heat return though Cheers for the input Jona
