Norwich 1-0 SwanseaHome team scorers Jonathan Howson 70 SWANSEA City’s poor run stretched to one win in nine matches after they were beaten by Norwich at Carrow Road. Jonny Howson scored the only goal of the game on 70 minutes, ducking down to head after a corner. That effort settled a match of poor quality and means Swansea’s only victory since August came at Aston Villa last month. Norwich set up to defend and hit Swansea on the break and the visitors could not break Alex Neil’s men down. The result sees them drop further down the table and they risk getting dragged into a dogfight. The first half was short on chances and low on excitement. The only two of note both fell to Norwich as Cameron Jerome sent a header looping over the bar before Jonny Howson’s effort from distance was well held by Lukasz Fabianski. Norwich City's Gary O'Neil battles for the ball with Swansea City's Bafetimbi Gomis After the restart, the game followed a similar patter until Swansea started to seize the initiative. A rare foray forward ended with Gylfi Sigurdsson chipping on to the bar and Ki Sung-Yueng then sent a side-foot effort into the stand. Norwich took the lead with 20 minutes remaining. Fabianski did well to tip a rasping Robbie Brady shot behind, but from the resulting corner the Pole was beaten. Brady’s corner was headed across goal by substitute Mbokani Bezua and Jonny Howson stopped to convert from close range. Having earlier introduced Wayne Routledge, Garry Monk sent on Leon Britton and Eder as his side looked for a way back into the game. But they rarely looked like snatching a leveller. Kyle Naughton sent one shot whistling just past the post and Gomis saw late appeals for a penalty turned down after tussling with Sebastien Bassong. Evening Post
