Leighton Baines says Everton's home record is proving key to their season's aspirations. The Blues remain in the top seven following Sunday's goalless Goodison Park draw with Tottenham Hotspur, with second-place Chelsea just one point ahead. And while the chance to sneak ahead of Jose Mourinho's side passed by with the Spurs stalemate, it maintained a 14-game unbeaten league record on home soil. "We've got to make it so that people don't enjoy coming to play here," Baines told evertontv. "When people look at it and see we're not losing any games here, that people like Tottenham and Chelsea are not getting any results from here, then it's going to make them think twice about how to approach the game. "Hopefully we can keep winning a few more and climb. It's quite congested in the top seven at the minute, so hopefully we can stay with the pack and keep winning games." Baines had a busy afternoon on Everton's left flank. As well as striking up his partnership with Steven Pienaar to aid the Toffees' attack, the pair had to contend with Spurs duo Andros Townsend and Kyle Walker seeking similar impact. He added: "It was an entertaining enough game for people to watch. "Tottenham were the better side in the first half and I think we probably were in the second. A point's probably just about fair. "Playing against someone like [Townsend] is always going to keep you occupied. It was important to stop [their] in-form players and the lads around certainly stopped him as well and helped us keep a clean sheet in the end. "It ebbed and flowed in terms of me and Steven [Pienaar] trying to defend against them and then pushing them back in the second half and them having to do the same to stop us. It was an interesting match really. "It can get a bit like a chess match at times where you have to pick your next move carefully. We probably cancelled each other out to a certain extent, but, as defenders, we got the job done, so we have to be happy." Source: Daniel Alston / evertonfc.com

19 home wins would be enough to ensure we stay up.

I think fewer draws and more wins is the key! Well said. Bing unbeaten is worth little if it's only draws. We might as well lose 5 and win 3 as draw 8 which is why Citeh are above us yet still have 3 losses. Go for the win in every game or why bother.
