loveevertonforum.com/page/norwich-cityTEAM NEWSRoberto Martinez will need to make at least two changes for Tuesday’s cup clash with Norwich City.
Phil Jagielka is set for a spell on the sidelines after injuring the medial ligament in his knee against Arsenal, while Gareth Barry is banned following his red card at the Emirates.
Martinez has also confirmed that cup keeper Joel Robles will start in goal.
For the visitors, striker Dieumerci Mbokani, who played against Everton last season for Dynamo Kyiv, is a doubt through illness.
FORMNorwich City have secured just nine points from as many games in the Premier League this season.
The Canaries have won just two league games this campaign - against Sunderland and newly-promoted Bournemouth - while they have earned three creditable draws against Stoke City, Liverpool and West Ham United respectively.
Five league defeats have left Alex Neil’s side sitting 16th in the table. Most recently, they suffered a heavy 6-2 defeat at Newcastle United before a 1-0 loss at home to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Their Capital One Cup campaign, however, has brought more optimism having beaten Championship side Rotherham United and Premier League outfit West Brom to set up their trip to Goodison Park.
Meanwhile, Roberto Martinez’s charges have twice come from behind against both Barnsley and Reading to secure their passage through to the fourth round.
Gerard Deulofeu was the catalyst as the Blues secured an extra-time victory over League One Barnsley - and it was the Spanish winger who also netted the winner in a 2-1 third-round win over Championship side Reading at the Madejski Stadium last month.
LAST MEETING: Everton 2-0 Norwich City, Saturday 11 January 2014.
Kevin Mirallas Goal Norwich 500
Goals from Gareth Barry and Kevin Mirallas helped Everton end their hoodoo over Norwich City two seasons ago.
Midway through the opening half at Goodison, midfielder Barry collected the ball and galloped forward before unleashing an unstoppable left-footed drive past former Toffee John Ruddy.
Two minutes shy of the hour mark and Roberto Martinez’s side doubled their lead to all but seal the points.
Leighton Baines was fouled outside the box and Belgian Mirallas made no mistake with the free-kick as he fired the ball into the top left corner to clinch the victory and move the Toffees back amongst the Premier League’s top-four.
CLASSIC MEETING: Norwich 0-1 Everton, Monday 4 May 1987.
It was the day Howard Kendall’s Everton clinched the league title.
Pat Van Den Hauwe netted his first goal of the season within the opening minute at Carrow Road to give the Blues the perfect start on a day a victory would secure the championship.
Kendall’s team talk during half-time was no doubt about defending in numbers and the Blues managed to protect their slender lead to bring home the league title.
ONE TO WATCH: Wes Hoolahan
Wes Hoolahan 500
The 33-year-old began his career with Shelbourne and had spells with Livingston and Blackpool before moving to Carrow Road in 2008.
Born in Dublin, Hoolahan helped his new club gain promotion to the Championship in 2009/10 and he proved just as impressive in England’s second tier, scoring 10 goals in 41 appearances to help Norwich City regain their Premier League status.
Hoolahan netted five times across the course of the 2014/15 campaign and also racked up his 250th appearance for City as they clinched promotion back to the top-flight, and the playmaker has continued to impress this season for the Canaries.
In eight league appearances, the Republic of Ireland international has provided five assists and scored one goal.
