Biggest reason I haven't upgraded (since Windows XP)is the End User Agreement Microsoft insist on including which makes switching some of those defaults off -as madcharlie mentioned- illegal. The amount of information which microsoft ( and Google Chrome and many others) extract from our behaviour, whether on-line or not, is really intrusive. And as for the uses they can put it to and the 'agencies' that have access to it....don't get me started. Big Brother is here, now. no the settings are on by default but you can change them to off as they are part of windows & its not illegal , but yes there are illegal software for altering things against the agreement but it depends on how series you take privacy.
