thats the spirit you be the guinea pig Decided against it. I used to be a lot more tech savvy than I am now, so asked a mate for advice and he recommended not to bother based upon lots of 'big brother' type theories and scepticism so if it's free for a year I'll wait.

yes the privacy concerns put people off but can be turned off , just annoying there on by default & I will probably install next year with all updates included as 8.1 is ok for me

Biggest reason I haven't upgraded (since Windows XP)is the End User Agreement Microsoft insist on including which makes switching some of those defaults off -as madcharlie mentioned- illegal. The amount of information which microsoft ( and Google Chrome and many others) extract from our behaviour, whether on-line or not, is really intrusive. And as for the uses they can put it to and the 'agencies' that have access to it....don't get me started. Big Brother is here, now.
