Wonderful result for us ... another fabulously astute tactical sub with Osman on for an underwhelming Ross Barkley. Man of match for me was Tim Howard. He was outstanding. Third in the league (for the moment!) Timmy was boss today and it could have been a bad day had he not been on his game so glad I'm not alone in singing his praise. A few poor displays from our key players but not bad for an away match at Villa.

Absolutely agree. A professional performance if not our best, but going to Villa Park is a big challenge for us, and it was pleasing to see us get the points. Howard kept us in it early on after a stupid penalty made me think the officials were out to stop us, but some sensible substitutions got us on track again. Well chuffed. I'm the same Jim. Every time a decision goes against us I think there is a huge conspiracy to prevent us from doing well and protect the top teams. Not the best performance but a clean sheet thanks to beardy and a good performance from Ossie who looked like the rest did him the world of good. Miles from where we want to be in the middle though. Barkley is not a starter for me yet in terms of decision making, but with Gibson out he will need to learn fast. Good 3 points. I reckon we need to just keep playing Barkley. He is only going to learn by the coaches going over his performance with him, and if we drop him hit could set his progress back a long way. Patience and rewards spring to mind.

Exactly right if we drop him it will kill his confidence so while we're winning he is getting experience. Bobby will tell him to pass more and keep going.

Fair point Jim It will make for competition also as Barry seems a cert, and Mccarthy so the others need to buck up and battle it out because Naismith looks well and truly in the picture too.
