The Everton Show - Series 2 - Episode 10 Ashley Williams has told this week’s The Everton Show he expects to have his work cut out when he comes up against friend and international teammate Sam Vokes on Saturday. Vokes, who netted a memorable header in Wales’ Euro 2016 quarter-final victory over Belgium in the summer, is expected to lead the line for Burnley at Turf Moor - putting him in direct competition with his Dragons skipper. The 6ft 1in forward has netted two Premier League goals this term, including the Clarets’ only strike in a 3-1 defeat at Southampton last time out. And while Sean Dyche’s men have won just one of their last six games, Williams will not be taking anything for granted in Lancashire. “He’s a tough customer, Sam,” the centre-back said. “He makes it very difficult for defenders and I know him very well, so I know just how difficult it will be. “He’s a big guy, very good in the air, a target man, a bit of an old fashioned-type centre-forward and he’s a difficult competitor. So it will be a tough game and one where whoever plays will have to be on the ball with him and keep an eye on him.” Everton go into the game on the back of draws against Crystal Palace and league leaders Manchester City but Williams is keen to get back on the winning track. “We’ve had two draws now, so we’re due a win and we need one. We’ll be going there to win. It’s a different type of game to the one against Manchester City but it’s going to take as much effort and concentrate. We want to get back to winning ways, get the three points and then keep the momentum going.” Williams was just one of four first-team stars who featured on this week’s The Everton Show. Viewers heard the pre-match thoughts of Bryan Oviedo, discovered how Maarten Stekelenburg is looking to kick on from his two penalty saves at Manchester City and learned what happened when Leighton Baines went to visit the brand new site of his former school recently. There was also a behind-the-scenes look at Tuesday’s Cocktails and Canapés event - including host Steve Bower’s full on-stage interview with Blues boss Ronald Koeman - the latest Under-23s and Under-18s highlights and a look ahead to Sunday’s mini-derby at Prenton Park.

Two Blues heroes were back at Goodison Park last weekend - and both feature on tonight’s edition of The Everton Show!Sylvain Distin and Tony Cottee returned to L4 to watch the Toffees tackle West Ham United and we grabbed time with both to talk about their playing days with the Club and what they think of the Blues under Ronald Koeman. Defender Distin, who turned out 210 times for Everton between 2009 and 2015, is a big fan of summer signing Ashley Williams and says he never doubted the Wales international would prove a shrewd acquisition. Speaking on The Everton Show, which will air on Made In Liverpool (Freeview channel 7 and Virgin 159) at 7pm tonight, Distin says: “The team are doing great and defensively they’re really impressive. Defensively, I think the right players have been brought in and having a player like Ashley Williams is important. "You can see the stability at the back. I thought right away, ‘he’s going to be the perfect fit’. He’s strong on the ball, he’s not faffing around and he seems to have a good personality as well. Personally, he’s the type of defender I like to see, so it’s good he’s doing great.” He added: “It’s always good to come back here and see all the staff and all the people behind the scenes. I have great friends here and people I enjoy coming in to spend time with. It brings back so many memories of the good times I spent here.” The Everton Show will also be available to fans across the globe on demand via YouTube from 8pm, with Ian Snodin the studio guest joining presenter Darren Griffiths to talk over the week’s news. Ronald Koeman, Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley and Seamus Coleman all look back at the 2-0 win over Slaven Bilic’s Hammers, Joe Royle and Tommy Wright reminisce about the 1970 World Cup and life at Everton under the authoritative Harry Catterick, we bring you highlights and reaction from the Under-23s’ 1-1 draw with Chelsea, Everton in the Community Executive Chair Denise Barrett-Baxendale discusses her recent trip to the Vatican and meeting the Pope and there’s also the story of a young Blue who made a memorable first visit to Goodison Park last weekend. Dutch Themed Everton ShowTwo Barcelona favourites appear on this week’s Everton Show, going out on Friday evening at 7pm on Made In Liverpool! Gary Lineker was a guest at Finch Farm earlier this week to meet Ronald Koeman. The pair’s paths never crossed at the Nou Camp but we still spoke to the Match of the Day presenter about the Everton manager’s engaging company. There is a Dutch focus in the Big Interview section of the show, with backroom trio of assistant manager Erwin Koeman, fitness coach Jan Kluitenburg and goalkeeper coach Patrick Lodewijks all sitting down to discuss how culture on Merseyside differs to that in their homeland. We also profile Yannick Bolasie’s visit to an Everton in the Community project, focus on Tyias Browning’s return from injury and remember former player Tom Gardner, who sadly passed away last week.
