Everton Under-18s progressed to the quarter-finals of the Gothia Cup in Sweden on Wednesday. A thumping 4-0 win over home town side IFK Gothenberg sealed top spot in Group 1, edging out fellow Swedes Gefle IF on goal difference. The tournament began on Monday, with the Blues drawing 1-1 with Gefle as Harry Charsley got on the scoresheet. Courtney Duffus's strike then sealed a 1-0 win over Varas Academy of Hungary on Tuesday. Wednesday's convincing victory, courtesy of a brace from Charsley alongside strikes from Duffus and Jonjoe Kenny, ensured a Thursday evening meeting with IF Elfsborg in the last eight. A bright display of composed attacking play pleased coach Duncan Ferguson, who said: "It was a good performance. It is a very prestigious tournament and we were invited so we were more than happy to come along."
