Gary Lineker has held talks with BT Sport about presenting their Champions League coverage next season.Sources close to the discussions have confirmed the talks are ongoing about a possible deal which would allow the former England striker to keep working for the BBC as well. The 54-year-old is currently the lead presenter of the BBC's Match of the Day but was also one of the main presenters for the London 2012 Olympics coverage, the Commonwealth Games plus Sports Personality of the Year. BT Sport are keen to sign a high-profile frontman for the start of their Champions League coverage in September, after winning the UEFA contract from Sky and ITV. The BBC face a battle to keep their Premier League highlights deal for Match of the Day with ITV also understood to be bidding for the highlights rights from 2016 to 2019. The outcome of the tender is expected to be announced in early February. According to Broadcast magazine, the BBC are prepared to be flexible over Lineker's future. BT Sport and the BBC refused to comment. Source: Telegraph

Would be a coup if they got him although it would be better on an exclusive contract. I wonder if they'll go in for Adrian Chiles?

Speaking of Chiles, did anything come out about WHY he got the boot from ITV? At the time there was no clue given....Too many errors? Falling viewing figures? Operation Yew Tree?

I have no idea. I just assumed he was just really dull and not many people enjoyed watching him so ratings went down. I have to admit ITV are useless at broadcasting football. I used to like The Match back in the 80s (wasn't Elton Welsby an Evertonian?) but it's been terrible since.

ITV don't have any live football from next season hence his sacking
