I heard a bit of your old 'keepers appearance on Talksport on Tuesday morning. Alan Brazil mentioned to him that you've got a tough game against Palace coming up. Southall replied saying Palace are not that good and that Palace are down there for a reason.  Reality check time: Everton are ahead of Palace on goal difference, recent form is all with us and Everton have secured just one point from us since we made it back into the PL. Perhaps he's still upset about the ZDS Cup defeat 24 years ago?  Anyone who was there might remember that we put 3 past him in the second half and that he sat in a major sulk by his goal for a good ten minutes after the final whistle. Then had to put up with "Where's your Medal Neville?" chants every time we played you. It doesn't really bother me 'cos we can rely on Martinez to big us up before the game anyway.  |

Nev was a good keeper, and that's how I prefer to remember him.

I'll give an example : The other day I noticed that he'd written an article suggesting we should sell Ross Barkley, which I thought fair enough, he's welcome to his opinion, but then I noticed it was on Paddy Powers site, who are notorious for trying to get attention, and 'that' didn't sit well with me. It came across as though he had been paid to say it just to draw attention to their website. Now I'm not saying that it is fact, and it might not be true, and Nev isn't here to defend himself, but at least it is a talking point, rather than just having a dig at folk. I protect 'everybody' on this site, and so please protect 'our site' by being sensible about our postings.  |
