Yes, that's true, continually fading in and out. I always seemed to fall asleep half way through.

The Red telephone boxes
Yes, I remember it - put your four old pennies in then press button A if it was answered or button B to get your money back. In the old days you could call for free by tapping the number out eg.733 1234 - Press where the receiver went 7 times gently but quickly, then 3 times, then 3 times again etc all the way through the complete number then you got through FREE! Till the G.P.O. caught on and invented something to stop it!

I've seen a few surviving in some villages occasionally, and I find them charming. I can't remember the last time I actually used a pay phone.

The kids these days take it all for granted. Records used to be a physical piece of wonder when we were kids. Now it's mp3's which have no physical attributes at all.
