Martinez not nailed on! Everton manager search takes a twist as former Schalke boss Rangnick gets in on the actEverton have held talks with German coach Ralf Rangnick as their search for a new manager took a dramatic twist. Rangnick, who is sporting director at Red Bull Salzburg, steered Bundesliga side Schalke to the Champions League semi-finals two years ago. The 54-year-old, who speaks fluent English after living here during his time as a student at Sussex University, flew to London and met Everton chairman Bill Kenwright. Twist: Rangnick has come into the frame just as it seemed Roberto Martinez looked sure to take the job Rangnick, who has been linked with roles at West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham, will rival Roberto Martinez, who held extensive talks with Kenwright at the Landmark Hotel in London on Wednesday. Wigan boss Martinez is one of the names definitely in the running and remains the favourite, while West Brom manager Steve Clarke has also been touted as a potential candidate. And Everton left-back Leighton Baines gave Martinez his seal of approval. 'It all sort of seems to be going on at the moment,' said the England international, preparing for a friendly in Brazil at the weekend. 'Thankfully we are in camp so I am keeping it at the back of my mind for now and concentrating more on England. 'Roberto Martinez has been linked with the job. He is a terrific manager so we will just wait and see.' He's the one: Baines praised Martinez, but it remains to be seen who will lead the team at Goodison ParkSource: Daily Mail
