Tony Bellew & his lifelong dream of boxing at Goodison Park

Tony Bellew has told of his lifelong dream of boxing at Goodison Park, home of his beloved Everton FC.



Speaking after his split decision victory against Nathan Cleverly at the ECHO arena last night, 'Bomber' said: "My dream is Goodison Park now.

"I'm not interested in Wembley or Vegas or New York or Germany. I just want to fight in Goodison Park.

"It's been a dream since I was a child. No-one has ever done it.

"Let's just stick a ring in Goodison Park and see how it goes. I'll shadowbox, I just want to fight there.

"There's great fights to made if we can all get under those lights at that park."

Promoter Eddie Hearn said: "Goodison is always an option. We've already spoken to them and they'd love to be involved. It's a huge stadium."

Discussing potential bouts that could feature on a Goodison Park card, Hearn said: "[Anthony] Joshua against [David] Price is a great fight - definitely one we'd be willing to accept around the summer of next year.

"Paul Smith hopefully will fight Arthur Abraham in February. He could be involved in a big fight in the summer.

"Don't forget Rocky Fielding as well. And Stephen Smith is on the verge of a world title fight."

Bellew added: "Red and Blue doesn't come into it when the fists get involved. We're Scousers, we're unlike any other people. We all support Scousers.

"I'm no superstar at boxing, there are loads of guys better than me in this city. I'll just work hard and I'm nearly there now.

"[Eddie Hearn] has just got to make it happen."
