Arsene Wenger on Jose Mourinho shove: 'I always regret any signs of violence and I apologise' Wenger pushed his counterpart in the chest in reaction to a badly =-timed Gary Cahill tackle during Arsenal's 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge last weekend Scuffle: Wenger and Mourinho come together at Stamford Bridge Arsene Wenger has apologised for his touchline scuffle with Jose Mourinho in last weekend's Premier League game between Chelsea and Arsenal. Aggrieved with a tackle from Chelsea's Gary Cahill, the Frenchman walked towards his counterpart's technical area and gave him a push in the chest, before the duo were separated by the fourth official. And now, speaking to French television show Telefoot, Wenger has admitted that he was out of order doing so. “They gave too much importance to this story. In hindsight I think I should not have reacted at all, it’s not a way to behave on a football field. “I always regret any signs of violence and I apologise, but that’s a part of games where everything is manic. And then we have quite a substantial past. Did Mourinho provoke me? That is how I felt. I did not enter Chelsea’s technical area.” The pair are unlikely to face any further action from the Football Association for the incident, after referee Martin Atkinson and fourth official Jon Moss diffused the situation right away.
